-We are having Prom meetings this Saturday (4/26) at about 10AM - 4PM in
the basement. We hope to start working on decorations and begin building what we need for prom as well as assembling all the necessary supplies! Please come!

-At this Sunday's Worship (at 5PM) YAG is in charge of doing the Silence. If you are interested in volunteering for that, please talk to Jay Ervin.

-The New Ancients Second CD will be available by May 1st. Pete is going to pick it up from the CD place on April 29th or 30th. So get excited!!! The cost of the CD is 10$. If you pre-bought one, there will be one waiting for you. Also, please do NOT copy the CD for friends and such. Pete bought the CD's with his own money and needs to now pay off his credit card. So if you copy them for people that's like him not getting 10$ that he would need to pay this off! Thanks guys!

-Infinite Detour also has a new CD released. It is called Pterodactyl Knife Fight. Their CD is also 10$, see Rob B. if interested in getting one!

-Chris de la Cruz is trying to get volunteers to help out on Saturday, May 3rd for the kids fun runs and fun events part of the New Jersey Marathon Weekend in (Pier Village) Long Branch , NJ. If you would be interested in volunteering for this fun time with lots of little kids please talk to Chris de la Cruz. He needs helpers from 8:30AM to 12PM. We will be in charge of things like games, setting up kids races, passing out water, etc.

-On May 17th Red Bank is having a Centennial parade. Kathleen Gill thinks we should try to find out if we can participate! Let's do that! Maybe we can make a float!!? If interested, contact Kathleen Gill!

- Some of you may know that ORB is struggling a little bit financially. For both the Young Adult Group and the High School group, the most expensive thing we do is retreats. Don't worry, we are still going to have retreats! But we need to work them a little differently in the future because we have always lost money by having people sign up for the retreat and then not go . What happens is we end up having to pay for people who don't come. So, in the future we are going to have to collect money more in advance and make sure that we have every one's money before we give the retreat centers the final numbers. So, start saving now if you would like to go on the Fall retreat, scheduled for October 10-12, 2008. If you would like us to collect 5$ from you per week and keep track of it for you, we can do things like that! ALSO, being Young Adults now, we should all try putting money aside to give away. You don't have to give to ORB, but try to give somewhere! :)

Announcements from week of April 8th...

Sunday Service: Every Sunday night we come together for service above the ORB basement. We meet at 5:00pm. This week, the YAG group is in charge of the Welcome. Thank you to Kathleen for volunteering to do the Welcome this upcoming Sunday!

Congregational Meeting: This Sunday immediately following the service, there will be an ORB wide congregational meeting held in the Sanctuary. Please come and listen to what's been happening at ORB and participate in the voting of elders for the board.

Service Opportunities: A new opportunity that is arising for the Service Group is the ability to take the Orb Sunday Service to those in need. Come take part in sharing the message of the Sunday sermon, serving communion or just bringing the light and love of God to those who are unable to take part in it at our weekly Sunday service. If you are interested in taking part of this, please see Chris DLC or Susan for more information. In addition, every Thursday there is a trip to Lunch Break Soup Kitchen in Red Bank from 10am - 1pm. There is also an opportunity to help drive food from business (like Panera) to soup kitchens in Monmouth County. Please contact Chris or Emily for more information.

30 Hour Famine: Join Kim Horan and other ORB High School kids and Young Adults in participating in a 30 Hour Famine beginning at 12pm on Friday and lasting until 6pm on Sunday. This event is being held to raise money to help feed the poor. If you are interested in participating, please see Kim Horan; if you are not interested in participating but would like to support those who are financially, talk to Kim or other participants of the 30 Hour Famine.

Thrift Shop Tour: Another Thrift Shop Tour is going to be taking place. Right now it is tentatively scheduled for May10. We are trying to schedule it so that as many people that want to go can come. We go to PA, visit a bunch of really neat thrift shops, perhaps buy a really ugly Cosby sweater, and then gorge on food. Obviously, a time to be had! If you are interested, contact Peter Andrews or Beth Purdy.

ORB Prom:
It's that time of year again. ORB Prom is going to be held on May 9th. The theme is 50's Sock-hop. There is a meeting scheduled for Sunday, April 20th immediately following the service. Please come if you are interested in being a part of the planning committee or if you have any brilliant ideas you'd like to share! Feel free to email Jared or Kathleen with your ideas as well.

Ladies Night: Has been post-poned until May. Stay tuned for more details on location and a possible theme.

YAG Fall Retreat: I know it's early yet, but mark your calendars for the weekend of October 10-12th for the YAG Fall Retreat in Tuscarora!
