Announcements for 2/26/08

Announcements:

*Mark your calendars! The YAG retreat is set for the weekend of March 28th-30th at Harvey Cedars. The cost is $83 for the weekend. Come for a great weekend of fellowship, learning and fun! A sign-up sheet will be going around on Tuesday nights for the next few weeks. If you are going to come, please sign up! Also, if you can drive people back and forth, please note that on the sign-up sheet! If for some reason you don’t have enough funds to pay for the retreat, don’t let that stop you from coming! Come talk to Emily or one of the other leaders and we can help you out. We hope to see you all there.

*Hey ladies! Our next Ladies Night event will take place on Friday, March 7 at 8:30pm at Jill's house. If you are a lady, come out for a night of good fun and hanging out!

*Every Sunday we at ORB worship all together at the same place we meet for YAG, just upstairs. The service is at 5PM. Please come out and join us for worship. This week the YAG group is in charge of PowerPoint. If you are interested in helping us push some buttons, come speak to Jay E..

* ORB – The Bus – The Metaphor is making a comeback as a blog. There is a Facebook page and all! If you have any art, poems, short stories, etc., send them to orbblog@gmail.com.

* Every Thursday between 10am and 1pm, the ORB Service Group will be helping out at Lunch Break, a soup kitchen in Red Bank, to help serve food to the poor in the Red Bank community. Everyone is welcome to come to this weekly event so if you have some free time, come serve those in need!

* The first Tuesday of every month the ORB Service Group will be helping to cook and serve food to the families of terminal cancer patients at the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch. If you are interested in coming to this event, please see Susan, Chris, Allie or Emily to sign up or for more information.

*The Service Group will also be serving communion to those people who could not make it to the Sunday service. After the service they will be going around to those people who may be sick or unable to attend for one reason or another. If you would like to help with this, please see Chris dela Cruz.

*If you are interested in sponsoring a child in the Dominican Republic from the School or Orphanage where ORB's group just went. Please talk to Chris dela Cruz about getting the paperwork needed.

* If you are interested in giving a talk on a Tuesday night at YAG, come talk to one of the leaders.

* There is a prayer group that meets every Wednesday morning at 6:30am at the church. Please come and help pray for people of this community and the world…it's better than sleeping in!

* Get ready for the next Thrift Store Tour…coming Spring 2008!

* Sandi Andrews & co. will be heading down to the Washington D.C. area the weekend of April 11-April 13th to attend a Global Prayer Gathering hosted by International Justice Mission, an organization aimed at helping to end atrocities around the world. The cost for the conference is $109 for the weekend, NOT including hotels, food, etc. If you are interested in attending this conference, please see Sandi.

* There will be a fundraiser hosted by the Surfrider’s Foundation to raise money to help clean up NJ shore beaches and ocean. Infinite Detour will be playing at this event and good food will be served. Tickets are $20. The event will be held at Stingers in Long Branch, NJ at 7:30pm.

* Last but not least, Andy Newberry is looking for a ride home from the airport on the night of Sunday, March 9th at 11:30pm from Newark Airport. Please see Lauren Elio or Andy if you are willing to give him a ride.

This week the YAG group is in charge of set-up and take-down. If you can help with this, please come to set-up around 3:00pm on Sunday. Take-down is usually over about 7:30pm.

*Next week, Brian Lootsma will be kicking off our Lent series with an awesome talk. Come out and show your support for the Lootsmanator!

* Jill told her mom about her tattoos a couple of weeks ago and everything went swimmingly! She is feeling much lighter and free and would recommend and encourage everyone to look to God for strength and let go of their burdens!

* Jay Erving is still off of the old coffee. Congratulations Jay!

~ There is a charity dinner at 52 College Ave up at Rutgers tonight (but it could be Friday, sorry I forget the date). The cost is 5$ and it will go to raise money for Leukemia patients. If you are interested, contact Steve Genneralli. Also, Infinite Detour will be playing!

ANNOUNCEMENTS for week of 01/29/08!

* S.W.A.N.N. takes place TONIGHT, Friday, February 1st at 7pm in the basement! Come and join in on the ultimate gaming experience! We are in need of TVs so if you have any not so great TVs laying around that you would not mind letting us borrow for this event, please bring it!
